Angela Smith
Director
Angela Smith is Executive Director Emeritus of the Writers' League of Texas. Under her tenure as Executive Director, the Writers' League grew to be the second largest regional association of writers in the United States with more than 1,800 members. She is currently serving as Executive Director of My Own Business, Inc., a Los Angeles-based entrepreneurial training program, Executive Director of The Learning Initiative, a professional development program for teachers, and editorial consultant.
A native Texan and graduate of the University of North Texas, she is a former reporter with the Associated Press. She also served as Director of Public Relations for St. Edward's University and Director of Communications for the Texas Association of School Boards, Texas Classroom Teachers' Association, and the Educational Leadership Program at the University of Texas at Austin. She has served on the boards of numerous non-profit's and is a consultant in non-profit management. In her spare time, she is an avid amateur astronomer, likes to fiddle around on the cello, and plays a mean steel drum.
She resides in Austin, Texas, and Newport Beach, California, alternating her time between the two locations.
