A fourth grader from Bagdad Elementary said, "The best things about Badgerdog are the wonderful Ms. G, Ms. Anthens, the exciting lessons, and the confidence everyone has built. I know that I have improved my writing. Also, may I say, I think we all got better at something or learned something new about ourselves." * * * A fifth grader from Baty Elementary said her favorite aspect of the program was “writing poems, because [she] could express [her] feelings and thoughts.” She also reports that she would participate in BadgerPups again: “It was the best thing that ever happened to me.” * * * A fifth grader at Hillcrest Elementary said the only change he would make in the program would be to “have it every day and never let it end.” When asked what he felt the program gave kids that they could not get anywhere else, Brown said that the program taught his peers “to stay strong and keep on writing,” and gave them “a chance to express [their] feelings.” * * * A fifth grader from Popham Elementary said the program “is about learning how to write and have fun at the same time.” * * * A fifth grader from Popham Elementary said the most important thing a student receives from this program is the chance to read in an environment in which the “teacher will be nice and won’t criticize your reading.” * * * When asked if he would participate in the program again, a fifth grader from Baty Elementary, replied enthusiastically, “Yes because I started to like writing poems. I could tell my friends about this.” * * * When asked if he would participate in the program again, a fourth grader from Del Valle Elementary, also replied positively: “Yes because it was fun and I know how to write stories better.” * * * While looking back on her experience, a fourth grader at Del Valle Elementary said, “I’ve [always] wanted to make a book, and here I am an author!” |
