Employment
BadgerPups and Youth Voices in Ink Workshop Instructors
Badgerdog Literary Publishing runs several after school creative writing workshops in elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Central Texas. BadgerPups workshop instructors work with elementary school students in grades 3-5; Youth Voices in Ink workshop instructors work with middle and high school students.
Workshops typically run for 8-10 weeks and classes meet once or twice per week. The positions provide excellent opportunities to learn the teaching and publishing processes and to develop skills and experience as teachers and editors of student writing.
Badgerdog is committed to hiring practicing writers who wish to share their craft and passion with the next generation of poets and fiction writers. Prior teaching experience is appreciated but not required. All workshop instructors are required to attend an in-service meeting where they will be introduced to the Badgerdog curriculum guide, a living document that outlines Badgerdog’s pedagogy and offers a full suite of lessons that workshop instructors have successfully taught.
Workshop Instructor Responsibilities
- Attending the Badgerdog in-service meeting
- Leading a workshop, guiding students through the writing process toward the goal of publication
- Attending a benchmark meeting scheduled at the midpoint of the workshop
- Serving as Section Editor for their workshop’s contribution to the anthology
- Planning a school-site reading for the authors in your workshop

Graduate students currently enrolled at the UT Michener Center for writers may receive course credit by teaching with Badgerdog as an intern. For more information about this opportunity, please see the Michener Center for guidelines and procedures.
