Registration for Summer Camp 2012 is now open. Sign up before March 15 using the coupon code summer12EB and receive a $25 discount for each registration.
Three-week summer workshops are led by Austin's best writers: award-winning poets, novelists, playwrights, and essayists. Students write poetry and prose and learn to revise and edit their work for publication. The camp culminates in the publication of beautiful, library-quality anthologies and two public readings (one of these is followed by a book signing for student authors). Each student receives a copy of the published anthology, which is also donated to the Austin Public Library system and sold at BookPeople. One field trip is included in the summer camp schedule; previous field trips have included visits to the Blanton Museum of Art, the Harry Ransom Center, Urban Roots, Hyde Park Theatre, and Salvage Vanguard Theater. Class size is limited to 12 students, and students are placed within their age group. Camps are open to all Austin-area rising 3rd–12th graders (students entering grades 3-12 in the fall of 2012). A refund of $275 will be given for cancellations made within 30 days prior to the start of camp. Cancellations made after the start of camp, for any reason, are nonrefundable. In the event that minimum enrollments are not met for a particular workshop, that workshop will be cancelled, and you will receive a full refund.
